Yet regardless of the drivers of change, there are certain leadership skills that are essential to navigating change and remaining resilient in spite of it. Join Ms. McWilliams and Ms. Easter as they discuss how change has impacted and influenced their professional paths and provide best practices for those facing change during these uncertain times.
About our Speakers:
Ms. Karen McWilliams is the Senior Vice President & Deputy General Counsel at Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC). She is responsible for advising SAIC’s Executive Leadership Team and the Chief Human Resources Officer on legal matters pertaining to Human Resources, Executive Compensation, Benefits, Affirmative Action, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations law. Prior to joining SAIC, Ms. McWilliams was the employment lawyer for a publicly traded brokerage firm and bank, a partner at a global law firm, a substitute judge, and an adjunct professor of law. Ms. McWilliams is a well-known and highly respected corporate executive and charitable board member. Ms. McWilliams has a J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and a B.S. Ed. from the University of Virginia. She was designated a “Super Lawyer” in Virginia and D. C. by the publishers of Law & Politics magazine and is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia and the Virginia State Bar.
Ms. Steffanie Easter has recently joined SAIC as the Vice President, Strategy and Planning, for the Defense Systems Group. In this role, Ms. Easter is responsible for supporting the strategic direction and growth of all group customer accounts. Ms. Easter brings with her more than three decades of federal service experience in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. Prior to joining SAIC, she was Director, Navy Staff, for the Navy, becoming the first civilian and Senior Executive to hold the position. In this role, she served as the senior civilian and coordinated enterprise-level efforts across the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations and ensured alignment of more than 400 flag officers and senior executives while providing indispensable advice and support to the Chief of Naval Operations and the Secretary of the Navy. Throughout her career, Ms. Easter has served in a variety of challenging and high-impact positions. She served as the acting assistant secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology (ASA[ALT]) and the principal deputy to the ASA(ALT) where she was responsible for leading the Army acquisition workforce and supervising Army acquisition, research and development and logistics endeavors within the Army acquisition enterprise.
